XFidelity Ultra keeps your sound on your PC
XFidelity Ultra is an audio enhancer for Windows. It takes the sound your PC is playing, reshapes it with a real-time effects engine and plays it back on your speakers or headphones. This page sets out what it stores, where, and the one request it makes over the internet.
1. Overview
XFidelity Ultra is made by XLUNA, an independent software studio run by Hasnain Butt Akhtar. This policy applies to version 1.0.0.0 and later on Windows. The app works without an account and without telemetry.
- We do not collect personal data.
- We do not send your audio or system information to any server.
- We do not run servers for the app.
- We do not sell, share or monetise any data.
2. Data we do not collect
- Identity: no name, email, phone number, address, account, sign-in or identifier.
- Usage or analytics: no telemetry, crash analytics, tracking or advertising code of any kind.
- Your audio: sound is processed in short memory buffers while it plays and is discarded straight away. It is never recorded, saved to disk or sent anywhere. The app does not record from your microphone.
- Device and app information: the names of your playback devices and the names of the apps that are playing sound are read only to show them to you and to adjust their volume. They are never sent anywhere.
- Location: no GPS or device location.
3. Data stored on your PC
- Settings: your chosen experience, knob positions, equalizer, limiter, latency, routing choices, the identifiers of the playback devices you picked and your appearance preferences are saved in one small file in the XFidelity Ultra folder of your local app data. The same file records that you have seen the welcome tour.
- Appearance: your glass mode and accent ink are saved in a second small file in the same folder.
- Volume record: while the engine runs, the app lowers the volume of other apps in the Windows mixer. It keeps a small record of each affected app's original volume in the same folder so it can restore it when you stop the engine, close the app, or open it again after an unexpected close.
- Trial and licence: managed by the Microsoft Store. The app reads it on your PC; we receive nothing.
Uninstalling the app removes its folder.
4. Network and third-party services
XFidelity Ultra makes one kind of request over the internet: the Microsoft Store licence check, handled by Microsoft, to confirm your trial or purchase. It carries no audio, no device information and nothing from XLUNA. The app makes no other network connections. The website, privacy policy and support email buttons hand the link to your default browser or mail app; XFidelity Ultra itself connects to nothing.
5. Microsoft Store purchase and trial
XFidelity Ultra is a paid app with a free trial managed by the Microsoft Store. Microsoft handles every payment and transaction. We never see or store your card details or your Microsoft account information. The rating button only opens the Microsoft Store's own rating page, and nothing is offered or withheld in return for a rating.
6. App permissions
- Full trust desktop app: needed to use the Windows audio system, to capture the sound your apps play, to play the processed result to the output you choose, and to adjust app volumes in the Windows mixer. These actions run locally.
- No administrator rights: the app never asks for them.
- Mute the source device: applies only to manual routing, which is not the default, and you can switch it off in Settings. Turning it on again asks for your approval. The device is unmuted when you stop the engine or close the app, and at the next launch after an unexpected close.
- System tray: by default, closing the window keeps the app running in the system tray so your sound stays enhanced. Exit in the tray menu quits it, and you can turn this off in Settings.
- Start with Windows: off until you turn it on in Settings. When it starts with Windows the app opens in the system tray. It uses the Windows startup task, which you can also switch off in Windows Settings.
- Internet access: the app declares no network permission. The Microsoft Store licence check in section 4 is made through Windows.
7. Children
XFidelity Ultra is a general-purpose audio utility. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not collect information from anyone.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date, and it will keep the same principle: your data stays on your PC.
